Yes , you heard me right you can simply automate most of your operations like talking to a customer care representative.
Lets first analyze what happened when you dial your customer care you want to directly talk to customer care representative and you want to cut out the crap that you have to listen and press the corresponding keys on your phone to go forward.
So when you dial number, +12345678, followed by “p” character, which means pause. The “p character will pause the dial sequence for 1 second“. If you find 1 second is not enough, you can enter more “p” characters
If you want to automate the call and don’t want to press the keys do it this way.
Lets assume that your customer care no is 1234 and the combination of keys you have to press is 1120
So to automate this process type 1234p1p1p2p0 and press the dial button you will be directly routed to the customer care representative ,you can use this procedure to answer any automated system.

For Nokia s60 1st and 2nd edition phones.
1. First Install FExplorer in your phone memory.
2. Got to drive C: , you will find a file called mmcstore
3. Send it to your pc directly and open it in notepad or rename the file.
4. At the end of the file you will find your password.

For Nokia S60 3rd Phones, Nokia N-Series and Nokia E-Series
There is almost no way yet known to hack the memory card password in case of these types of phone but there is a way to do it some of the s60 3rd edition phones and almost all the E-series phones.
The remote lock option in E-Series phone allws you to unlock your phone by sending a sms.
The only thing you have to do is to activate this feature by going to Tools | Settings | Security | Phone and SIM | Allow remote lock menu. The password of your memory card will be your remote lock message.
So you have to just send a sms containing your remote lock message that will automatically change your memory card passsword.

How to do it:
Make sure that Messaging memory is set to Phone Memory (Messages -> Settings -> Other -> Memory -> Phone memory).
With FExplorer, go to E:\System\Mail and delete the whole dir. Not just the content, the whole dir.
Go to Messages -> Settings -> Other -> Memory and select “MMC”
Now you will be prompted if you would like to copy the messages to your “new” location.
If you found some problem in implementing the steps listed below leave a comment here i will be glad to help you.

Follow the steps to send the sms via your phone with the help of nokia pc suite
1. Install the Nokia PC suite from the cd which you got with your nokia phone at the time of purchase.
2. After getting connected with nokia pc suite via Bluetooth or through usb cable.
3. Open Nokia phone browser in My Computer.
4. Click on the which has a tooltip as create a new text message in the vertical sidebaR
5. Nokia Text Message Editor will open up in which you can enter the number and type your message and
6. After typing click on File>>Send to send the message.

any GSM, ( if you are spammed by someone)

*35*xxxx*16#
xxxx is your Call Barring code (default is 0000).
To remove this barring type: #35*xxxx#

From your telephone you can send SMS messages of 160 char. max. to another GSM phone

Your message will be sent through an SMS Center (usually the one that gave your provider)

You pay a little fee depending of your provider, BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY something

In order for sending SMS without paying anything, you got to change your SMS Center number with these one

+491722270300 or +358405202999 or +352021100003

>>> Method 1: Flight mode:

Put your phone in "Flight mode" with Psiloc System Tools. Install System Tools, open it and select "Flight mode". This way you can restart the phone without your SIM card so there will be no running phone tasks in the background. Now you can have up to 3,5 MB of free RAM!

Note: ironically enough, Flight mode doesn't work when Smart Launcher is installed, at least in my case.
But i've also heard several reports of people who have both apps running without any problems.

>>> Method 2: Smart Launcher trick:

Install Smart Launcher and open it. Go to Options, Settings and put Launcher ON.
Now plug in your charger and switch off your phone. Wait until the battery meter appears and short press the Menu button (don't hold).
The menu should appear and now you can have 3,5 to 4,5 MB free RAM! (Hold Menu button to check RAM).

The trick is that with the charger plugged in, the phone must get a minimum software support for charging, even when
the phone is switched off. And somehow Smart Launcher has still got it's shortcut running and that's the Menu button. So when
you press the Menu button, you go directly to the Menu without any other phone tasks running in the background so
you trick the phone and you have more free RAM!
Note: when you unplug the charger, the phone will switch off.

>>> Method 3: Menu :

it frees a little about 100~200 KB but I guess it's useful sometime

Close your menu not by selecting the right selection key "exit", or pressing the menu key another time, they only hide the menu app but do not close it, to close it select the left selection key "option" and scroll down and select "exit"

So when you open an app needs more ram reopen menu and close it, it's useful when play low bit rate video in real player paradise.

iding these images is extremely simple and can be done for free with my favorite freeware browser - Y-Browser

First open Y-browser and select [options] -> [search files]. Now in the “Filename” field, input a picture title followed by “.*” as pictured below (since you don’t know what format the picture is). Then select [Options] -> [Start search]. You do not need to do this if you know the directory where the images are stored of course.

Once you have found your file in the list of search results, highlight it and select [Options] -> [File] -> [Attributes].

Now simply change “System” and “Hidden” to yes and select [Save].

repeat same for all files you want to be hide.

and finally restart the phone.

TIPS FOR BUYING A NEW MOBILE

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 |

Mobile phone technology and mobile services are developing and improving very quickly. If you are confused about what to look for when buying a new phone here are eight important tips to consider.

What Functions Do You Want, and What Functions Do You need?

The most basic function of any mobile phone is to send and receive phone calls and SMS text messages. Beyond the basics some mobile phones have calculators. Others have voice answering and voice dialing, allowing you to send and receive phone calls without using your hands. More sophisticated phones have built in digital cameras, MP3 and video players, computer games and other features.

Choose the phone with the features that you can really use and don’t waste money on a phone with functions that you will seldom use or with functions that duplicate your other electronic gadgets.

Do a Sound and Display Check

Will you be making calls in noisy settings? If so then you should check the volume of the phone and see if it is strong enough to be heard. Make sure that the phone has an easy to use volume control so that you can turn it up whenever necessary and make sure that the volume is really adequate for your needs.
Take a look at the display and also consider the colors. The display is one of the most important features of any mobile phone. Make sure that the display is easily readable even in difficult lighting conditions. You can’t check this feature over the Internet, rather, you should go to the store and examine the phone physically.
If you are buying a phone with a colour display then you should realize that quality of colour and resolution varies dramatically from model to model. If you want to watch videos or look at photos taken with your phone’s camera then you will need a handset with at least “65,000 colour”. The quality of the colours is shown with a number; the higher the number the higher the picture quality.

Check the Quality of the Ring Tones

Polyphonic ring tones are featured in all of the new mobile phones. Polyphonic tones make it possible for a ring tone to sound like many instruments playing together. As with colors, the quality of the ring tone is measured numerically.

If your retailer says that the phone has “16 polyphonic” it means that 16 instruments can be heard in a ring tone. If you want a good sound then you need at least a 16.

See Which Accessories are Included with the Phone

All mobile phones normally come with a battery and charger, but there are other accessories that may be useful to you. Check to see if the phone comes with a spare battery, an earphone, a leather casing, a neck strap or an antenna. If you need any of these accessories and if they are optional, then your phone will cost you more than you thought. If the accessories are part of the deal, then you may be getting a bargain. Also, if you don’t need an accessory now, but would like to get one in the future, check to see if accessories for your model are easily available on the market.

Find Out How Long the Battery Will Last

Battery life is an important variable. The average user only asks about the “talk time” of a a battery. However, “stand-by” time is just as important, especially for people who do not want to carry around a charger with them.

It is common to find phones whose batteries have a three to seven-hour talk time, but you should also find out whether the battery has enough stand-by time so that you can make it through the entire day without recharging.

Consider the “Look and Feel” of the Phone

Once again you can’t choose a phone from a catalog or over the Internet. You might prefer to go down to the store and handle the phone before buying it. Feel how much it weighs and see if the menus are easy to understand. Take a look at the layout of the keyboard and other buttons. On some of the smaller phones the buttons are so small that it is difficult and tiresome to dial a number or compose a message.

If you consider your phone a fashion accessory then choose one that best suits your personality and style.

Take a Careful Look at the Price

Be sensible. Buy a mobile phone that lets you stay within your budget. If you follow the previous tips and get a phone that matches your requirements, you should be able to get a handset that will not put you in debt or force you to cut back on your usual expenditures. Remember one thing about consumer electronics: the prices usually fall. If you can’t afford to buy a phone that can show videos this year, next year it may be within your reach.

Find Out About After Sales Service

What will you do if your mobile phone breaks down? Find out where you can get it serviced and whether you will be given a replacement during the servicing period. Be clear about after sales service before choosing the place where you will finally make your purchase.

If you pay attention to these “8 Tips on Buying the Mobile Phone that’s Right For You” then you are sure to get a phone that will meet all of your needs, without breaking your budget.

Mobile Phones these days consume much more battery due to faster processors, louder stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. But the battery technology hasn’t evolved much over the last few years, which has resulted in poor battery backup in recent phones.

Some smartphones don’t even last one full day. There is some hope though; researchers at Stanford University have created a lithium ion nanowire battery with ten times the energy density. This would result in 10 times more battery life compared to the current batteries. But unfortunately, those batteries are a few year away. Till then for those struggling with poor battery life on phones, here is a guide to extend your battery life to the maximum extent possible.

1. Switch off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Most people do the mistake of not switching off the Wi-Fi / Bluetooth after data transfer or browsing. Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth suck a lot out of your battery, switch it off when it’s not in use.

2. Lower display brightness.

High-end phones have light sensors which automatically adjust the brightness levels. For others, most phones have the option of lowering the brightness of the display, use it and set the brightness to medium. Warning - Don’t lower the brightness too much, it could affect your vision.

3. Lower the back-light time out duration.

Some phones have the option to set time (in seconds) to turn off the display once the phone is idle. Set it according to your convenience, lesser the better.

4. Switch off Vibration alert.

Your phone vibrator is power hungry, using the phone in normal ringing mode saves a lot of battery compared to vibration mode. So use the Vibration alert feature only when necessary.

5. Do not drain your Li-ion battery completely.

If your phone is equipped with a Li-ion battery, make sure you don’t drain it fully. Most people are under the misconception that discharging batteries completely increases its battery life. Experts say its untrue, in fact doing so affects Li-ion batteries negatively. Charge you phone before it switches off.

6. Close Applications that are not in use.

Smartphone’s allow multiple applications to be open at the same time. Ensure you close applications that are not in use.

7. Games and Music – Think before you play.

Games and Music are again power hungry. Am not saying avoid it completely, just think about your battery before doing so. Most people do the mistake of listening to music or gaming on their way to work and the battery would be out well before the end of day’s work.

Also, music via earphones consumes lesser battery compared to music through your speakers.

8. Turn off your phone when the network is unavailable.

When the area you’re in has no network coverage, your phone keeps searching for an available network. Switching off the phone helps, especially while travelling. Trust me; you will save a lot of battery by following this tip.

9. Choose Operator manually.

If possible choose your network operator manually. The disadvantage of automatic mode is, when you lose coverage the phone keeps searching for other networks, this would result in additional power consumption.

10. Store battery is a dry and cool place when not in use.

Don’t need the phone for a few days? Switch it off, remove the battery and keep it in a dry and cool place. Also, moisture and extreme heat affects your battery.

My last advice would be to charge your phone whenever possible to make sure your battery never dies. Laziness in charging my phone even though the charger is right next to me has resulted in losing out on very important calls!

Method 2:

Utilized Programs: Skins Manager v0.47 (check for the latest version)

Old version: SkinsManager_v0.31 (Mirror 1 | Mirror 2) ; Skins Manager v0.41.05A

You may need RSD Lite (v3.3 latest version) in order for Skins Manager to recognize your phone.

For Connection problems check out this forum [A Guide to Un-Install and Re-Install P2K Drivers]

Once you have found and downloaded a skin that you like, extract it to a new folder. This folder should now contain AT LEAST one .JPG or .GIF file (wallpaper), one .SKI file, and several .DAT files. To explain what those files are:

.SKI File: This file is basically the "skin map". It contains all of the skin information such as font colors, object references, and object positions.

.DAT Files: These files contain all of the images that make up the skin excluding the wallpaper.

Installing:

Most of us, today, store more that just phone numbers on our cell phones. Images, Mp3s, e-mails, text messages are all stored on this device.
Ever thought you might need to do the same with your cell phone? No? Then maybe you should think what life would be like if you lost your cell phone or it got stolen.
Delhi based Seema Middya, director, Training Alternatives Pvt Ltd, says losing a cell phone is a terrible experience. "It was like losing a part of my brain because I did not have my essential phone numbers stored anywhere else," she says.

Here's how to create a backup.

i. Address book in e-mail
It's fairly simple: Once you log into your e-mail account, go to the 'Contacts' section of the menu and store the e-mail address, snail mail address and phone numbers. You can even upload a favourite picture of the person.
Gmail is a great e-mail option as you can create groups for your contacts ie: Office contacts, friends, batch mates etc. You can store about 4,000 phone numbers and addresses in a contact book.
Pros
Free of cost.
Fairly good storage capacity of up to 1GB.
Online access and mobility.
Cons
Requires regular updates once every two to three days.
e-mails always face the risk of being hacked.

ii. Electronic/ digital diary

Digital diaries can usually store about 32-256 KB of data, which is sufficient to store all your telephone numbers and contact details. You can even use this tool as an organiser and schedule appointments.
Casio, Sharp and Videocon are the popular brands in this category. A 128 KB diary from Casio is available for Rs 1,200 and can store up to Rs 3,000 phone numbers, with names and addresses.
Pros
Small in size.
Good for people who are on the move.
Can store thousands of phone numbers.
The search option makes finding information very easy.
Cons
Uses two batteries at a time and requires a lot of battery as battery life is just about 1.5 - 2 hours.
Each battery costs about Rs 60.

iii. Excel sheet

How about creating a basic Excel sheet to store the contact information of important people? This is one of the most simple and underrated methods.
"My background in risk management teaches me that simplicity is a key factor while planning for contingency. I find Excel sheets really useful," says Delhi based Avikal Dicxit, a director with Insurance Intelligence.
1. Create separate worksheets and name the sheet based on groups like: office contacts, friends, business partners, clients, etc.
2. Create special filters on each worksheet to look up important numbers. Select a row on which you want to create filters. Choose the 'Data' option from the menu list at the top. Select 'Filter' and then click on 'Auto Filter'. You can now choose selective information from a list of contacts.

3. Use the CTRL F (Press the Control & F keys together on the keyboard) to search any number or contact.
Pros
Simplicity is its biggest advantage.
Free of cost.
You can keep uploading your Excel sheets to an online Yahoo briefcase.
Each worksheet can store over 30,000 contact numbers and addresses.
Cons
A hard drive crash can lead to loss of information.
Limited mobility as it is an offline backup method.
iv. Mobile phone softwareMost cell phone providers offer software such as PC synchronisation, which will enable you to transfer your cell phone contact list back to a computer and create a backup. You can read the brochure or contact the cell phone manufacturer for details regarding the additional software you will need to be able to do this.
The Nokia PC suite is one popular option you can download. It allows you to manage your contact list, music and messages and you can transfer data between your phone and PC. The PC suite works on all Bluetooth enabled models of Nokia, like the 6310.
You can even download Float's mobile agent.. It currently supports only Sony Ericsson phones. But a newer version which will be launched in the future will support Nokia, Samsung and some other brands too.
Pros
A fully loaded phonebook that can store text, video, pictures and numbers with a copy on your computer.
You can send and receive SMSes even from your PC.
Absolutely free and easily downloadable.
You can transfer all your pictures, video files and phonebook to a PC and back.
Cons
You need to be tech savvy to use these softwares but, if you follow the manual that comes along with the phone, you can easily learn the tricks.
There is always the risk of virus, because you need to download them.
Cell phone don'ts
Do not take out your SIM card from the phone and put it back again and again. It may get damaged and the phone book may get deleted.
Never operate the phone during a virus infection or it may enter and damage your SIM and you will lose your phonebook entries and whatever else you have stored on your SIM card. If this happens, you will have to get a duplicate SIM from your operator. This does not come free. Airtel, for instance, charges about Rs 245 for a duplicate SIM.
Never accept incoming connections or files unless you are expecting them

An IMEI number-The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number is an international identity number used to uniquely identify a mobile phone. The 15-digit IMEI number is an electronic fingerprint transmitted every time a phone is used, which reveals the identity of the mobile handset.

How can I find out my IMEI number? IMEI numbers are independent of the phone number and are usually written underneath the battery or on the back of the handset. Mobile phone users can also check their 15 digit IMEI number by dialling *#06# on their mobile handset. Mobile phone owners should make a note of their IMEI number and keep the details in a safe place.

If u lost your mobile, send an e-mail to cop@vsnl.net with the following info.
Your name:
Address:
Phone model:
Make:
Last used No.:
E-mail for communication:
Missed date:
IMEI No.:

"No need to go to police station"

You need a PC or a Laptop and the required connectivity tools ,ie.,
Serial/USB cable OR Infrared Device OR Bluetooth dongle

1) Activate Airtel Live! ( It's FREE so no probs)

2) Create TWO Airtel gprs data accounts (yep TWO) and select the
FIRST as the active profile.

3) Connect your mobile to the PC (or Laptop) and install the driver for
your mobile's modem.

4) Create a new dial-up connection using the NEW CONNECTION
WIZARD as follows

Connecting Device : Your mobile's modem
ISP Name : Airtel (or anything you like)
Phone Number : *99***2#
Username and Password : blank

5) Configure your browser and download manager to use the proxy
100.1.200.99 and port 8080.( My advice is to use Opera since you
can browse both wap and regular websites)

6) Connect to the dial-up account. You will be connected at 115.2
kbps (but remember, that is a bad joke).

7) Pick up your mobile and try to access any site. You will get "Access
Denied..."(except for Airtel Live!). IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Keep the mobile down.

8 ) On the PC ( or Laptop) open your browser, enter any address ,
press ENTER and.......WAIT

9) After a few seconds the page will start to load and you have the
WHOLE internet at your disposal.

TeaShark, a mobile browser like Opera Mini, let you access Airtel GPRS for FREE. Shockingly it has nothing to do with modifying any Airtel setting so I am clueless about how its working! I tested it personally throughout the week but I haven’t been charged a single paisa. Here is how I used this….

Download TeaShark browser. Its free and being JAR file it can be installed on most handsets.
Open it from your mobile and select AirTel Live as access point.
Thats it! Open any site from TeaShark and you won’t be charged anything.
Note for the first time, when TeaShark starts, it may take more than one minute to initialize. Also this one time initialization may fail many times. But don’t loose your heart!

1.Activate the "Automatic Answer" in the headset profile of your cell phone and set the ringing volume to "Mute"

2.Short-circuit the left middle and right pins on the bottom of the mobile phone with all connections touching each other this will activate profile "Headset".
If you cant do this just keep your earphone connected to mobile.

3.Now place it under a table in a room and call it. Now you can use your phone for checking out what people are talking about in a room.

4.Just call on your phone.
The phone receives the call without ringing and you can listen to what people are saying.

Tips on Mobile Maintenance

Looking after your mobile helps to ensure it has a long and productive life. There are 8 easy maintenance tips to help you get the best out of your mobile phone. All of the points below should also apply to your battery, charger and any other accessories.

KEEP YOUR MOBILE:

1.Charged: Ensure your battery is fully charged, and then completely run it down before recharging. Recharging too early causes your battery to run out of power more quickly.

2.Secure: For security reasons, enable the PIN on your SIM Card and Phone-lock on your phone to avoid unauthorized used. These security checks will also be activated when the phone is power cycled. You can check with your carrier or the phone manual for the features and also for information on blocking your SIM card and phone IMEI number if the phone is stolen. For more information please see the Security Tips located on the AMTA Lost and Stolen website.

3.Protected: Make sure you use a keypad lock to lock your phone. Unplanned calls can cost a fortune and even though your phone may be in a safe place, such as in a bag, your phone will still get knocked around to a surprising degree. Rough treatment can damage electronic circuit boards so avoid dropping or unnecessarily shaking your phone.

4.Battery: Be safe with your batteries. Use only genuine batteries from your phone manufacturer and only buy from authorized dealers. Going for the cheap option of a counterfeit battery can be dangerous.

5.Clean: Don't use harsh detergents, cleaning solvents or harsh chemicals to clean your phone. Wipe only with a soft cloth.

6.Covered: a protective cover will help repel dust and dirt, and prevent scratches. Make sure the cover you choose is of good quality. Low quality covers with no air pockets can damage you phone by creating humidity inside the cover.

7.Storing your phone: Always store your phone in a dry place. Avoid rain, high humidity and liquids. All of these may contain minerals that could corrode the electronic circuits.

8.At the right temperature: To ensure a long life, keep your phone in a stable temperature. Avoid exposing your phone to liquid and/or exposing your phone to extreme temperature change from hot to cold and vice versa. This might create condensation and damage the phone.

What’s a mobile phone virus?

A mobile phone virus or mobile malware - malicious mobile software - is a computer virus specifically adapted for the mobile phone environment and designed to spread from one vulnerable phone to another.

A virus is a program code that replicates by being copied to another program. Viruses can be transmitted as attachments to an email or in a download file. Some viruses take effect as soon as their code is executed; other viruses can lie dormant. A virus that replicates by resending itself as an email attachment or as a part of a network message is known as a worm.

Viruses can range from benign to quite harmful; they can erase data from the infected phone or send fake messages purporting to be from the phones owner. How prevalent are mobile phone viruses? The current security risk from mobile phone viruses and worms is low.

Until many more smart phones or PDAs are in use, and users of these phones are regularly exchanging executable files, the risk will remain low. The mobile industry takes the threat of viruses very seriously and is continually monitoring its networks and working to protect users from any future risk from mobile phone viruses. There are also some simple measures that individual users can implement to protect themselves.

What can I do to protect my phone?

The following tips can help prevent problems with viruses on your phone:

1. Switch to Bluetooth hidden mode. If your phone has Bluetooth capability, ensure that the Bluetooth capability is switched to hidden or invisible mode unless you specifically need it to be visible. This will help prevent other Bluetooth-enabled devices from finding your phone (unless you grant them the necessary permission) and will therefore help protect your phone from worms that spread using the Bluetooth wireless technology.

2. Exercise caution before opening attachments. When accepting applications sent via Bluetooth, or opening MMS attachments, exercise caution, just as you would when opening an email attachment on your PC, because they may include harmful software. Ensure the application or attachment comes from a known source, and is wary of opening files that have unfamiliar text attached to them, even if they come from someone you know.

3. Only download content from a trusted source. Trusted sources may include operator portals and other well-known brands that offer adequate protection against viruses and other harmful software. Be aware though that, as with emails, malicious or fraudulent users may be able to fake the appearance of a trusted source.

4. Consider anti-virus software. Some software is available to prevent phone viruses. You may wish to consider downloading this software.

5. Contact your phone manufacturer if concerned. If you think you have a virus, call the phone manufacturer’s care line. They can assist you confirm if it is a virus, and help fix the problem.

1. Consider pre-paid
If you are concerned about how much you will spend on your mobile, are not sure what exactly your needs are, and do not want to sign a long-term contract, consider the pre-paid option first.

Getting a pre-paid first will help you understand how much you?ll use your mobile. You can always change to a plan at a later date, and your experience using a pre-paid can provide you with useful information to help you evaluate what type of plan would match your needs. Note that some pre-paid plans tie you down for a minimum period of time. This may mean you can benefit from cheaper call costs, but be aware that if you leave before the specified time, you pay a penalty. Look for details in the terms and conditions. You may see the phrase SIM unlock fees. Also be aware that many pre-paid phone cards have an expiry date ? you use them until all your credit is used, or until the card expires (whichever occurs first).

2. Choose a plan to suit you
whether you opt for a pre-paid or post-paid contract, you?ll find there?s a huge choice of options available to suit many different needs. The following points will help you choose one to suit YOU.

a) Cost of calls. Going for the plan with the lowest basic call costs may not necessarily be the best or cheapest option for you, it will also depend on how much you use other services, such as SMS, voicemail, etc. If you use SMS more than voice, you might find, for example, and that there is a plan which charges slightly more for voice, but less for SMS providing a cheaper service for you overall.

Its also worth taking the time to consider when you use the phone, and whether you can benefit from plans which allow you free or cheaper calls at certain times of day, or to certain people.

If you use the phone a reasonable amount, the newer deals are also well worth considering. (Note: as with any other offer, ensure you are clear on any fair use policies and exclusions that apply.)

b) Select a service that allows you to check your mobile credit
Some mobile companies have options to help you keep track of, and manage, your spend examples include:

Spend alerts - you get a message to let you know if you?ve reached a certain spend within a given time period (e.g. a month). Applies to post-paid contracts.

Free call number to check account balance. (Applies to pre-paids and post-paid contracts)

Call barring - keep your bill down by limiting the numbers called from your phone by using call barring. For example, you might want to bar international calls, or calls to premium rate numbers. Some carriers also allow you to preset certain numbers to allow your phone to be used to call only certain numbers talk to your carrier about the options.

c) Consider the cost of the whole package. Be wary of phrases such as Free, costs zero dollars - is it really free, or are you paying for it somewhere else? If you see the words conditions apply, read what conditions apply the offer may not sound so tempting once you understand what it excludes. Remember: If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

3. Stop others using your mobile phone
Minimize the risk of losing your phone and/or someone using it without your permission by:

Treating your phone as you would any valuable item; even if you got your handset as a ‘$0 upfront deal, this does not reflect its true cost. Handsets are expensive: they can cost more than $1000.

· Never leave your mobile in the car;

· Keep your mobile on you - never put it down in a public place or leave it unattended;

· Switch to vibrate mode in circumstances where a ring tone might attract the attention of a thief;

· Make use of your mobile's security features to stop others borrowing your phone (e.g. PINs, SIM locks, code locks see your user guide for details);

· Limit the amount of damage someone can cause by borrowing your phone without permission by utilizing call barring (see above);

· Don?t assume your phone is covered in your home contents insurance check, and consider insuring it separately, if necessary. Remember that even if you got the phone for $0 upfront, this doesn?t mean it was free it means the cost was absorbed in the overall contract price. You may not be able to get a replacement phone for $0 upfront.

Reducing your phone appeal to thieves, and assist in its recovery if it is lost or stolen, by:

· Notifying your network carrier AND the police immediately in the event of loss or theft;

· Engraving your initials and driving license number on the phone;

· Recording details of your phone, including its make, model and its International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, and keeping the details in a safe place. The IMEI number is a 15 digit number independent of your phone number, and is usually written underneath the battery or on the back of the handset. You can also find your IMEI number by dialing *#06# on your mobile handset. Your carrier can use this number to block your phone from all networks once you report the phone lost or stolen, rendering it useless to any thief.

4. Don?t sign a contract for someone else unless you?re prepared to pay all their bills
Remember that whoever signs a contract is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the terms and conditions of the contract are met. That means if you sign a contract for a friend (or child), and they don?t pay their bills, its YOU who must cover the costs.

So unless you?re completely happy to cover someone else costs, don?t sign a contract for them. Help them choose an appropriate pre-paid service instead.

5. Other tips to save you money
Voicemail. If you have a voicemail service, ensure you?re clear what it costs. It may be included free as part of your package, or you may be charged when you listen to your messages. If this is the case, clear your voice mail quickly: every time you re-listen to old messages its costing you.

SMS. SMS messages are usually charged at a flat rate per message of up to 160 characters. If your phone allows you to write a single message over 160 characters, be aware that you?ll get charged for an additional SMS. (So an SMS with 161 characters will cost you twice as much as 160 characters.)

Voting. Ensure you understand the cost of calls or SMS when entering competitions/voting, etc. These are usually premium services and attract higher charges than your usual SMS or phone call.

Cost calculations & premium rate services. Be aware that there are various ways you can be charged for the services you choose to use. For example, SMS may be charged at a flat rate ($X per SMS sent); call charges may be calculated on a time-used basis ($X per minute); and some newer content services* may be charged on a subscription basis ($X/week), or on a cost per message received basis ($X each time you receive a message). Before signing up for any service, make sure you understand how the charging works: how much it costs, how often and what the total cost to you will be. And should you choose to subscribe, take note of how to cancel your subscription at the time you sign up while its front of mind.

(*Egs of content services include: ring tones, horoscopes, news & sports updates)

Call or SMS? Consider whether it might be cheaper on occasions to call someone rather than SMS them. Or visa-versa.

Pre-paid credit. If using a pre-paid, make sure you know if and when the credit expires, and whether you can extend the credit period by topping-up/re-charging the card.

6. A problem shared is a problem halved
If you are having any financial or contractual problems, contact your carrier. It is not in their interest to have customers in financial difficulty any more than it is in yours. Discuss with your carrier any advice they have to help control your spend before the problem becomes too big.

Buying a good second hand mobile may be the easiest way to get a really good bargain. However there are some critical points to consider to avoid any possible future problem.

Make sure that it is not a stolen handset: Insist on seeing the original documents to ensure that you are buying a genuine handset. A google search for the imei number of the handset is a good idea as well.

The age of the handset: Try to avoid very old second hand mobile phones. Also check that all parts of the mobile phone are in working condition. If you are buying an expensive handset then it makes sense to insist on getting a view from a technical person before making the payment.

Is the handset in warranty period? Be ready to pay a premium for a handset that is still in its warranty period.

Check the current market price of the mobile phone When it comes to second hand mobile phone, the price that the original buyer had paid is of no use at all. Rather check what is current market price of the handset. Do not go by the MRP of the product. Go to some mobile showroom and check out the price of the mobile phone. Calculate the saving from the second hand mobile with reference to the price you would have to pay after all the bargaining is over.

Has it been too long since the last price cut? Mobile handset markets see a drop in the price of handsets on a periodic basis. If there has been no srop in the price of the model since its launch, then factor in a 20% drop in price while comparing price of the original and that of the second hand mobile.

For you to be able to make your mp3 file louder than expected, you need to download first a software called Mp3Gain. Mp3Gain can actually help you increase the volume of your Mp3 File without increasing its file size. Here are some steps on what to do with your Mp3Gain.

It is actually very simple to use.

1. First download and install the program.

2. Start the program. Click on Add File(s) or Add Folder. Depending on whether you want to normalize all your mp3 at one shot, or you want to normalize them one by one.

I recommend doing one by one as all mp3s have different volume levels. Unless the songs you want to normalize are from the same album(same encoding).

3. Once selected, you files will appear in the list. Next, you need to click on Track Analysis to see what are the volume for your mp3s.

4. Now, once the analysis is completed. Check the volume of your mp3. A good loud and clear mp3 should have a volume of about 96dB.

5. So, now you know which files needs to be Normalized (a term used to increase/decrease your mp3 volume to the best level). Remove the files that you do not need by clicking on a file and click Clear File(s).

6. Next, change the default "Target Normal Volume" from 89dB to 96dB.

. Finally, once the above has been done. Click on Track Gain.

You have now completed increasing your mp3 volume.

Dear FRIENDS,

When you try to call someone through mobile phone, don't put your mobile
closer to your ears until the recipient answers, Because directly after
dialing, the mobile phone would use it's maximum signaling power, which
is: 2watts = 33dbi.

Be Careful.

Please use left ear while using cell (mobile), because if you use the
right one it may affect brain directly.

BLUE JACKING

|

Bluejacking is not mobile hacking or hijacking its totaly different. Bluejacking is a harmless prank played on people who have switched Bluetooth on their phones.

blue is taken from Bluetooth, the technology bluejacking uses.
jacking is derived from both "ajack" and "hijacking"

Even thought bluejacking does not resemble hijacking There is no accessing or taking private data from your victim's device.

Bluejacking is totally limited to Bluetooth enabled devices.Bluetooth has a very limited range, usually around 10 metres on mobile phones, but laptops and other instrument with high power transmitters can reach up to 100 meters.

Bluejacking Explained
“Bluejacking” is define as sending of unsolicited messages over Bluetooth to Bluetooth-enabled devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, Laptops, sending a contact which typically contains a message in the name field to another bluetooth enabled device via the OBEX protocol.

Few prople say the term “Bluejacking” originated with a user named ajack on esato.com. Some people say that the term bluejacking comes from Bluetooth and hijacking. While that certainly sounds logical, a bluejacker doesn't hijack anything, he just send a contact to the recipient's device. Both parties have absolute control over their devices, and a bluejacker will not be able to take control of your phone or steal your personal information.

You can create a phonebook contact and write a message, eg. 'Hello, you've been bluejacked', in the 'Name' field. Then you can search for other phones with Bluetooth and send that phonebook contact to them. On their phone, a message will popup saying "'Hello, you've been bluejacked' has just been received by Bluetooth" or something along those lines. For most 'victims' they will have no idea as to how the message appeared on their phone. So, personalised messages like 'I like your pink top' and the startled expressions that result is where the fun really starts.

Bluejacking is quite harmless, but because bluejacked people don't know what is happening, they think their phone is malfunctioning. Usually, a bluejacker will only send a text message, but with modern phones it's possible to send images or sounds as well.

But with the increase in the availability of bluetooth enabled devices, these devices have become vulnarable to virus attacks and even complete take over of devices through a trojan horse program.

Bluejacking Process
Go to Contacts.
Create a new contact.
Write the short message you want to send on the line next to 'Last name'
Save this contact.
Select this contact and send via Bluetooth.
Your phone will search for devices
All the Bluetooth devices near you will be displayed.
Select any one you like and send.
You have bluejacked someone.
You can also send pictures to your victim by adding them to your bluejack contact. The best thing about this is even if the victim rejects the contact that you sent him/her, the picture gets automatically saved in the victim's My Pictures section.

BSNL GPRS HACK

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 |

here are the steps to perform:-

Logic: the server has a major bug in it, by which it fails to block two simultaneous connections from the phone and establishes a connection with full internet working,

Supported devices: all phones with multichannel gprs support

For connection on your mobile phone:-

1) Make two connections like bsnlportal and BSNLPORTAL1

(names of profile don’t matter, u can keep one as billgates and shahrukhkhan lol..the basic purpose of names is to enable the user to differentiate between the two accounts,)

2) Select the application you got to have the full connection working on.
Surpassingly “web” now just select “bsnlportal” profile and select a link like wap.cellone.in the page will get open, just press the red button such that the “web” application goes in the background.
Make sure that the gprs connection is still established with the web app. Two parallel lines on the top left of the screen will confirm this

3) Now open any other app that requires web connection like opera. Select BSNLPORTAL and open any other link like wap.google.com, u will get error –

the aim of using the other app is to perform multi-channel gprs,
this is verified by seeing some dots on the pre-existing connection established by “web”

(step 2)

“Access denied.

Technical description:
403 Forbidden - You are not allowed to communicate with the requested resource.”

4) close opera and open web and open a site like esato.com

5) if everything is done as said here then esato will load and voila! We have the whole internet!

For connection on pc.

1)create a connection and enter the number to be dialed as *99***1#

2) enter the following string as extra initialization command

3)now dial from pc, the connection will be established

4)pick the phone and open “web” open “wap.cellone.in” the phone shows error .

5) close “web” and then from the browser open www.google.com
and voila! The whole intenet is here

settings for profiles

apn: celloneportal
ip: 192.168.51.163
port : 8080

leave other fields blank as they are of the least concern!

the browser settings on pc too go the same as mentioned above
